ROONEY MARA INSPIRED LOOK

Tonight is the night of the Oscars and I'm still paying homage to black hair, so morphing these two events together was very easy. A big, big style icon of mine is Rooney Mara. She's mostly known for her role as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She got a complete make-over to look like Lisbeth, including multiple facial piercings and a very drastic cut&dye. She completely rocked her new look in the award season of 2012, wearing the most amazing goth-chique Givenchy gowns.

I decided to recreate her look for the 2013 MET gala. The theme was 'punk' and that was right up her alley. I love the fresh-faced look combined with the dark lipstick.

Products used:
  • Catrice Prime and Fine highlighting powder in Fairy Dust
  • Gosh X-Ceptional wear foundation in Natural
  • MAC fix+
  • NYX Born to Glow liquid illuminator in Sun Beam
  • Rimmel match perfection translucent powder
  • Lancome Vissionaire Advanced Skin Corrector (sample)
  • Essence Stays on No Matter What eye pencil in Whipped White Frosting
  • Flormar eyeshadow palette in 07
  • HEMA eyebrow pencil
  • Rimmel Kate lipstick in 04
  • Catrice eyeshadow in Bring Me Frosted Cake
  • Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl mascara
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Flormar lip pencil
  • Flormar kohl pencil
  • Essence Stay All Day 16h Long Lasting concealer in Natural Beige
  • Urban Decay Vice 2 palette; Dope, Toxic, Rewind

For starters, I wanted my skin to look flawless like Rooney's. I used Lancôme Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector as a primer. Then I applied a high coverage light foundation and I let that work into the skin.
Moving on to the eyes, I primed using Primer Potion and I applied the Essence Stays on no matter what eye pencil to create a nice off white base, also because Urban Decay eyeshadows fall out like crazy. On the moving lid I applied Dope. I defined the crease using Rewind. I love blending mattes and shimmers together, I think it always gives a nice effect. I blended Toxic in a little bit, too. On the brow bone I used an off-white eyeshadow as always. I tightlined my eyes using a black eyeliner pencil and I applied mascara. Because I wanted to look just as fresh-faced as Rooney, I opened up my look more by using individual eye lashes.
I drew on the outlines of my brows using a creamy dark brown brow pencil and I filled the outer parts in with a dark brown (the darkest one from the nameless Flormar palette) and I blended that inwards using a lighter shade of brown.
Back to the skin, I concealed any spots and I applied liquid highlighter on my cheekbones and nose. I set everything with transparent powder and then I used some more highlighter. Unfortunately, I don't have Rooney's bone structure so I defined my cheekbones a little bit using a soft pink blush (not pictured above). To make everything look dewy I applied MAC's fix+ face mist.
Once that set, I lined my lips with a berry red lip pencil (nameless, Flormar) and on top I used a dark purple lipstick.

I always struggle with No make-up-make-up. I love this ultra dark lipstick, and it sort of works if you keep it down on the rest of your face. I hope Rooney is going to the Oscars tonight! She might be, since Her is nominated for 5 oscars. Anyway, Lupita will be there too and she has been rocking this award season! Needless to say, I'm rooting for Lupita. Also Leonardo, he was brilliant in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Will you be watching tonight? Who are you rooting for?
