I wash my hair twice a week.. And I'm not gross

For the first 19 years and three months of my life I washed my hair every day. I read online about how bad it is for your hair but I didn't care. My hair wasn't damaged, it wasn't oily either. I just really liked showering every morning and I thought my hair was easier to style when it was wet.
However, a few weeks ago I dyed my hair. The process of getting three years worth of black hair dye out of your hair is a bit damaging. That's why I decided to start taking good care of my hair, and washing it less is part of that.

Before I developed a solid 'hair routine' I used to use whatever was around. We mostly have Syoss products because they are always on sale and I really like them. I really like their Supreme Selection Revive range. The shampoo doesn't contain any sulfates so it's not foamy at all, which is something you have to get used to at first. Before I wash it I use the Super Defense Color Elixir Color Protect Oil. This is one of those hair serums, I really like this one in particular because it's not as greasy as other ones I've tried.

I wash my hair every Wednesday and Sunday. On Sundays I always do a face mask, and I introduced a hair mask as well. For this, I tried out the new Schwarzkopf Essence Ultîme Omega Repair Intensive Mask. I really like it. It makes my hair feel super soft and healthy without making it greasy, because that's what we're trying to avoid here.

Not only does washing my hair twice a week make my shampoo last me a billion times longer, it's also super quick in the morning! Especially if your hair is as long as mine, it takes forever to dry. At night I put my hair in a top knot, which I secure with a scrunchie (elastics can cause breakage). On day 2 my hair isn't really greasy yet, I use a little bit of dry shampoo to cover up any smells (the Syoss one smells really nice but you can use any dry shampoo). On the third day I usually just use some more dry shampoo and put it in a bun. I've found out that if you put a bow in your hair everyone will tell you the bow in your hair looks cute, and no one notices how gross your hair is. Life hack.

Now, I really like taking showers. I could easily shower twice a day but that's really bad for your skin and also, bills. Of course I take showers when I don't wash my hair but my hair is super long and thick, I really don't want to get it wet because that will just make it gross. Therefore, I use a super inventive shower cap system:

Step 1: Pin your fringe back (if you have one) and put your hair in a top knot.

Rare and unseen footage of my messy room and my baby hairs.

Step 2: Put a bag over your head.

A convenient way to keep your hair dry while showering, or to keep Lord Voldemort on the back of your head.
I also really like curling my hair on day 1, curls easily last three days and your hair will look good without putting any effort in it. Also, curls make me feel like a princess. I don't know what this is.
If you're one of those people that says they HAVE to wash their hair every day, there is a way! I can do it too! It will save you so much time in the mornings, and a lot of money on shampoos.

How often do you wash your hair? What are your life-saving hair products?

PS: I was not paid by Syoss to write this, I genuinely really like their products!
