Zoeva 88 colour palette review

A few days ago, I was browsing Marktplaats (the Dutch equivalent of Ebay). Sometimes I find these true gems like Dr. Martens for €20 or unworn leather boots for €10. This time I found the Zoeva 88 eyeshadow palette for €5! Amazing.

Don't these shadows look barely touched?
The 88 palette comes in a plastic case and it's very flat, making it easy to travel. There's no mirror inside, but I don't mind that. I think holding up a palette this size isn't the best way to do your make up anyway.

I've read some bad things about this palette before, most of the critics being the colours lacking pigment. I agree that some of the lighter matte shades can be a bit chalky but that's really no different to other budget brands like Sleek. I didn't want to swatch all 88 colours because.. ain't nobody got time for that! I randomly swatched a few colours without a primer:

It wasn't that bad to be honest! However, I never work with bright colours without applying a white base. It makes the colours show up a zillion times better. I swatched some more colours on top of the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk:

'Maura wash your hands before applying a new colour!!'
That's really not too bad! The colours show up super vibrant and they're silky smooth. I haven't tried blending these eyeshadows yet, but I don't think that I'll have issues with it.

I've wanted one of those palettes for a long while. It's an easy way to play with a lot of colour without breaking the bank. I like that there are both matte and shimmer shades and there's a good amount of nude colours as well. I can't wait to play with these colours!

What are your second-hand treasures?
