Zoe Kravitz inspired eyelook tutorial

I was browsing around Tumblr the other day and I found this truly ethereal look from Zoe Kravitz. She's an absolute stunner with or without makeup but today I decided to recreate a silver eye look that she wore to the Divergent premiere earlier this year.

The inspiration:

What I used:

  • Venus (Naked 2)
  • Bootycall (Naked 2)
  • Tease (Naked 2)
  • Pistol (Naked 2)
  • Verve (Naked 3)
  • Blackout (Naked 2)
  • Shellshock (Vice 2)
  • Derailed (Vice 2)
Not pictured:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
  • Primark Sultry Lashes

As always I started by priming my eyelid. I filled in my brows but I didn't go for my usual routine. I'm a little bit over the #boldbrows? I just want them to look natural and full, but still clean. Like Zoe's are too. I should probably go on the hunt for a brow gel but for now I filled them in with a shade a couple shades lighter than my natural brows, which was Tease from Naked 2 and I still did the front part like I always do.

First, start by applying Venus to the brow bone. Then take the Milk pencil and apply it all over your moving lid and crease. Blend that out with your fingers.

Next, take Verve and apply it over all of the white. Use Tease on a fluffy blending brush and use it as your transition colour for Verve and Venus.

Then take Bootycall and apply it on top of the silver eyeshadow in the inner corner. This will make your inner corner slightly lighter but still silver.

Use a soft brush to dust Shellshock all over the moving lid. I did this because I wanted a more intense silver colour. Shellshock on its own was way too much because it's a very duochrome colour, I wanted a wash of silver but not that silver. You could also just use another silver eyeshadow.

Take Derailed and apply it to the outer V to create some definition. Blend everything well.

Apply Verve to the inner half of the lower lashline. And apply Pistol to the outer half of the lower lashline and wing it out. In the look that Zoe is wearing you can see that the darker silver isn't too blended in with the lighter silver. I didn't like the idea of those two lines so I blended them a little bit, but can decide for yourself what you like best.

Curl your lashes and apply mascara. Take a gunmetal kohl liner (I think mine's from L'Oréal but it's very old so I couldn't identify it) and apply it to the outer half of the bottom waterline.

Zoe is definitely wearing false lashes, so I added them too. It creates a more flirty and doe-eyed look. I  used Primark Sultry Lashes that I cut in two pieces. I only applied them to the outer half of the eye to create a 'open eye'. To apply them: apply eyelash glue to your lashes, wait for about 30 seconds to apply them. Let them sit on your lashes for a bit (like in the picture) before you tuck the ends in.

Use Blackout on the top lashline to make the strip blend in more. If you need to conceal any edges, just use the gunmetal pencil to draw over the strip a little. This will make them blend in so you don't have to wear liquid liner.

Zoe was very radiant and natural looking with the rest of her look. I used a radiant primer and I powdered very sparingly. For extra glow I used Mac Fix+, which is great if you're going for that dewy look.
