Gunmetal glitter eye tutorial

Usually I write down what my inspiration was for this tutorial, but honestly, I was just getting ready for a party. I decided to go for something smokey and grey-ish and I added tons of glitter. Read more for the tutorial!

What I used:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Urban Decay Vice 3 (Truth, Downfall, Defy)
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 (Blackout, Suspect, Bootycall)
  • Urban Decay Moondust eyeshadow in Moonspoon
  • Essence pigment in Fairy Dust
  • Nameless nail art glitter
As always, I primed my eyelid with the Primer Potion. This time I used an eyeshadow in the colour of my eyelid (Zoeva, 88 palette) to set everything.

Then, take Downfall and use it to define your crease. This will be your transition colour. Take Truth to highlight the brow bone. Make sure everything is well blended.

Next, take Defy and apply it to the outer half of your lid. Blend it into Downfall. It doesn't have to be perfect yet.

Then, take Suspect and apply it underneath Defy and blend everything.

Beware: there are a couple steps now but the lightning was poorly (ugh, snow!) in the other pictures so bare with me.

1. Darken up the outer V by applying some more Defy. Once everything is blended, use tiny amounts of Blackout to darken up the outer part some more. Blend everything.
2. Apply the Moondust eyeshadow to the middle and outer part of the mobile lid. Due to all the glitter in this eyeshadow this can't be precise at all. Just don't take it up too high because the glitter already travels everywhere. Blend it a little. Honestly, glitter blends itself most of the times so this is easy.

Apply the white pigment to the middle of the lid for an extra dimensional look.

Apply Bootycall to the inner corner and inner part of the lid. Then, take Blackout and apply it on the lower lashline. Blend it out with a little bit of Defy on your brush. Make sure to connect the dark colours on the lower lashline to the rest of the dark eyeshadow.

Take the big glitter chunks and apply them to the middle of the eye (so where you applied the white pigment). Use eyelash glue to stick them on. You probably want to make sure there aren't any chunks left on your eyelashes (unlike me). Finish with mascara.

I really enjoy these smokey looks these days. Blending and building colour is key in these kind of looks. It takes some patience, but it gets better once you do it a couple times!
