NYX HD Photogenic concealer wand

A little while ago I ran out of concealer and ordered this one in a whim. When it comes to skin products, I want to be able to really test them before I write anything about it. Also, I'm really busy. Read more for the entire (belated) review.

The first thing you'll notice about the product is the packaging. In my opinion it's just fine, nothing hideous. It also is pretty sturdy, that's not always the case with NYX products. When you open it you'll find a doe foot applicator.

I'm just not a fan of doe foot applicators. They're impossible to clean and therefore they kind of gross me out. The other thing I don't like about this applicator is that you can't get all the product out in the end. I mean, I would like NYX to get rid of this stupid wand.. but the product is called HD concealer WAND. So this is kind of my own fault but I wanted to point it out anyway.

I apply this by taking the applicator and apply a little bit to my hand. Then I use either a brush or my finger to apply it to my under-eye area. Usually I blend it out with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This works really well for me. The formula is just about right in case of thickness. My skin is very dry so I don't have any issues with it sliding off, neither does it settle into fine lines.

Before & After
As an under-eye concealer this thing really does its job. It's also great to use around your lip line (although this shade is getting a bit too light for me). I wouldn't recommend this product to cover a pimple or much redness because it probably doesn't have enough coverage. The product lasts all day on me. I use powder to set it, either translucent or coloured, and both ways work. I haven't had any issues with it oxidizing or any other weird reactions with my foundation or anything.

The only thing that I don't like is that it runs out very, very fast. I actually ran out of this one after six weeks and I purchased it again. First I purchased this because I needed a concealer and I couldn't afford a Mac one. I got more critical when I ran out of the first one because, as it turns out, there's just not so much product in it. You'll only get 5ml in this little tube. Mac's Pro Longwear concealer contains 9ml, which is almost double. So the two don't really have that big of a price difference after all.

I got the colour 02 Fair, which is really light. I'm pretty sure it's lighter than Mac's NC15, but I can't tell for sure because I don't have that at the moment. Anyway, this is their second lightest shade. This means that if you are a very pale person struggling to find a concealer that's light enough, you may want to check out these concealers.
